New Methods Based on Old Concepts
…Curious about yoga but put off by those hyper-bendy images? Here’s how you can create calm and peace within, using whatever imperfect body you may have right now.
What is it?
Griffin’s - 40+ years of practicing yoga & nearly a decade teaching Raja Yoga to 100s of university students in Seoul
Raja – (Royal or King) It encompasses all of the 8 limbs of yoga, of which the physical poses or Asanas are merely the 3rd branch
Ahimsa – Non-violence: a stable society can’t exist without it, but it starts with the Self. Do the poses in a safe, controlled manner. Success lies within the efforts you make, not in perfection.
Sattva –Harmony/Balance of the 2 opposing Yin/Yang energies, the goal of every yoga session, achieved by doing one Asana at a time, with intervals to allow the energy to settle down
3 Goals
Yoga Demystified
Develop the Tools for a Studio-free Home Practice
Develop Energy Awareness and Control
As a result of this traditional approach, strength, flexibility and peace of mind are simultaneously developed
Led by John Griffin
John has practiced yoga since he was 18. Took his 1st class at a junior college back in the early 80s before yoga went mainstream. He started doing Iyengar & Hatha classes and workshops in California. He has lived and worked in 5 continents: basketball player, Peace Corps & professor in Seoul for the past 2 decades. He is certified in Raja yoga, which is an energy-based form of yoga. He considers himself more of a Raja yoga ‘guide’ rather than teacher. A guide will show you the way, but leave it to you to find the path that’s best for you.
